Project Bread - The Walk for
Hunger is a nonprofit organization dedicated to alleviating,
preventing, and ultimately ending hunger in Massachusetts. Project Bread
sponsors the annual Walk for Hunger, runs the only statewide hotline for
hungry people, funds 400 emergency food programs each year, and develops
hunger prevention programs that feed hungry children where they live,
learn, and play. As part of its work to eliminate child hunger, Project
Bread provides grants to school breakfast programs, after-school snack The Food Research and Action Center (FRAC) is a leading national organization working to improve public policies to eradicate hunger and undernutrition in the United States. Founded in 1970 as a public interest law firm, FRAC is a nonprofit and nonpartisan research and public policy center that serves as the hub of an anti-hunger network of thousands of individuals and agencies across the country. Bread for the World is a nationwide Christian citizens movement seeking justice for the world's hungry people by lobbying our nation's decision makers. BFW Institute seeks justice for hungry people by engaging in research and education on policies related to hunger and development. America's Second Harvest is the nation's largest domestic hunger relief organization. Through a network of over 200 food banks and food-rescue programs, they distribute food to 26 million hungry Americans each year, eight million of whom are children. The Greater Boston Food Bank serves as a non-profit clearinghouse for food donated by the private sector to help those who are hungry. The Food Bank is New England's largest hunger relief program. The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts works behind the scenes of nearly every charitable organization that provides food to people in need in western Massachusetts. U.S. Department of Agriculture provides leadership on food, agriculture, natural resources, and related issues based on sound public policy, the best available science, and efficient management. The Western Region Anti-Hunger Consortium has made child nutrition and food stamps its top priorities, with the goals of influencing the national debate in favor of needed improvements to the programs, and educating concerned community members in its ten-state area about the importance of federal and state program changes. Food Bank collects, inspects, and stores donated food and
grocery product and distributes it through a network of 200 partner
agencies to help feed hungry people living in 60 cities and towns in
Central Massachusetts. The Food Bank serves as an advocate for agencies
providing hunger-relief services. The Food Bank also offers resources
such as nutrition education and safe food handling and maintenance
information.
